Customs, Taxes, and Duties
SECTION 1: INTERNATIONAL ORDERS
(IMPORT DUTIES & TAXES)
🇺🇸 United States (USA)
Starting 29th August 2025, the U.S. government has ended the $800 de minimis exemption, meaning all imports into the U.S. are now subject to duties and taxes, regardless of order value.
At Lumi Boutique Ltd, we want to make this process simple and stress-free for our U.S. customers. That is why we will fully absorb the costs of duties and import taxes charged by the U.S. government. This means you will not pay any additional import fees at checkout or upon delivery.
To ensure smooth delivery, all orders are now shipped via Delivered Duty Paid (DDP) using Teleship, with USPS or FedEx handling the final delivery. Teleship takes care of all handling fees, eliminating surprise charges, brokerage costs, or customs delays.
Please note: We are currently in negotiations with Royal Mail to return to our previous shipping rates in the near future.
· All import duties, tariffs, and clearance fees are covered by Lumi Boutique Ltd.
· No hidden costs or unexpected payments on delivery.
Refusing delivery or providing incorrect shipping information may result in return or destruction of your parcel, and in these cases, no refunds will be issued. You can view our Refunds & Returns Policy for more details.
🇬🇧 Northern Ireland (NI)
From 1st May 2025, new UK–EU customs rules (The Windsor Framework) mean that we need to include extra customs information when sending parcels from Great Britain to Northern Ireland.
Here’s what you need to know:
Customs Declarations: Your parcel will be sent with detailed customs info (description, value, origin).
Possible Charges: Occasionally, parcels may be subject to customs checks or import duties. If this happens, these charges are the responsibility of the customer.
Delays: These changes may also cause occasional delays while your parcel is being processed at customs.
Lumi Boutique Ltd doesn't currently have a business presence or customs representative based in Northern Ireland, therefore this may affect how your parcel is handled. We’re working on ways to make this smoother, and we’ll keep you updated as things develop.
🇪🇺 European Union (EU)
Following the United Kingdom's departure from the EU, customers in EU member states may be subject to VAT, import duties, and handling charges.
Orders under €150: Thanks to our integration with the EU Import One Stop Shop (IOSS), VAT is collected at checkout, minimising customs delays. However, small customs processing or brokerage fees may still apply.
Orders over €150: VAT and customs duties will be managed by your local customs or postal service. If you’d like to pre-pay these fees, please contact us prior to placing your order so we can arrange DDP (Duty Delivered Paid) shipping.
EU Business Orders & VAT Reclaim (IOSS / DDU): All orders shipped to the European Union with a total value under €150 are processed under the IOSS (Import One-Stop Shop) scheme. This means VAT is automatically collected at checkout and remitted to your local tax authority, in line with EU regulations.
As a result, these shipments are treated as B2C (Business-to-Consumer) transactions, and there is no option at checkout to enter a VAT or EORI number. Therefore, VAT cannot be reclaimed on IOSS orders, even if you are an EU VAT-registered business.
If you need a VAT-reclaimable invoice:
We can process your order manually as a B2B transaction under DDU (Delivered Duty Unpaid). This means:
- No VAT is charged at checkout
- VAT is payable upon import
- You’ll receive a commercial invoice suitable for VAT reclaim
- Your VAT and EORI number must be provided before dispatch
To place a DDU order, please contact our team via email: contact@lumiboutique.co.uk.
🇨🇦 CPTPP Countries
Canada, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Peru, Chile, Brunei, Malaysia, Mexico and Vietnam.
As part of the UK’s membership in the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP), many of our products, such as stickers and bookmarks, are eligible for 0% tariffs in participating countries.
However:
· Local VAT, GST, or other consumption taxes may still apply.
- Customs processing or handling fees may be charged by your local authority.
🇦🇪 GCC Countries
Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, UAE.
Orders shipped to Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries are subject to import duties and taxes, including a standard 5% customs duty on most goods. Additionally, Value Added Tax (VAT) may apply, typically at a rate of 5%, depending on the country.
These charges are determined by the local customs authority in the destination country and are not included in the price of your order at checkout.
NOTE: As of January 2025, the United Kingdom and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) are actively negotiating a Free Trade Agreement. The sixth round of negotiations concluded in February 2024, with both parties committed to finalising a comprehensive and modern agreement. We are closely monitoring the progress of these negotiations and will keep our customers informed about any developments that may benefit your shopping experience with us.
International Destinations
For countries outside the EU, USA, GCC or CPTPP regions:
- Import duties, VAT, and handling charges are determined by your local customs authority and are the customer’s responsibility. Please check your local government website before ordering.
- Failure to pay these charges may result in the package being returned to us. Additional postage costs for reshipping will be covered by the customer. Refunds of postage are not offered in this respect.
If you need any help or are confused at all by this information please contact us at contact@lumiboutique.co.uk.
NOTICE: By placing an order with Lumi Boutique Ltd, you acknowledge and accept that you are solely responsible for any import duties, taxes, or customs fees imposed by your country's customs authorities. Please consult with your local customs office or tax authority for detailed information. Alternatively, you can contact us on contact@lumiboutique.co.uk for more information or to have a chat about how this might affect you or an order.
SECTION 1.1: INTERNATIONAL STANDARD
We offer International Standard shipping option for customers around the globe, which is untracked and available at a lower cost. By selecting this method at checkout, the customer agrees to accept full responsibility for any potential loss or the need for re-shipment with tracking. This option is provided as a gesture of trust and goodwill to help counterbalance the cost of international shipping, and we expect the same level of respect and honesty from our customers in return.
Note that international standard from the UK to USA is handed from Royal Mail (untracked) to USPS (tracked) where tracking information will become available. Simply head to the USPS website and type in your parcel number. Once handed over, tracking information will become available.
In the event that a package sent via International Standard shipping does not arrive, please contact us at contact@lumiboutique.co.uk to discuss your order. We reserve the right to wait up to 21 days for the package to be returned to us in the case of customs issues. Based on your purchasing history with us, we may choose to remake or resend the order at no additional cost.
Please note: If more than one order fails to reach its destination, you will no longer be eligible for our untracked shipping option in future orders.
SECTION 2: HELP & FAQs
Shipping Address: Please ensure that your shipping address is accurate and complete when placing your order. We cannot be held responsible for any delays, miss delivery, or non-delivery due to incorrect or incomplete addresses provided by the customer.
